A Lazy Sunny Sunday morning brunch in Warwick this morning. Well it would have been plain rude not to. Besides we had to set ourselves up for grocery shopping didn’t we? and that job can’t be done on an empty tummy.

After an enormous cheese tomato and mushroom omelette I crawled around Cole’s. While in there i made an epic discovery they now sell Marks and Spencer Percy pigs!!  I couldn’t actually find any but they were advertised and that’s good enough..

A bit of pool time followed shopping, and then Julie, the boys and I went to her sister in laws for drinks and nibbles for Connors birthday. I was made so welcome again, they are just the nicest people. We stayed all afternoon and in to the evening getting home around 2100. Due to  the amount of wine consumed the  beer munchies kicked in so we ordered an uber eats KFC, I just had the chips, and weirdly didn’t actually enjoy them that much. Probably because there had been cheese, biscuits, ham, nuts, strawberries, olives and watermelon on offer. Julie’s brother in law is an ex cop, he retired the same year Si did. It was interesting chatting to him about the differences between the UK and WA forces. He was saying that each state has very different pensions, sick benefits and union terms. WA officers don’t have access to unions and their superannuation is very different to that to the rest of Australia. There are also different uniforms for bush cops, they wear Khaki while all the rest wear Navy,It was really interesting chatting and the problems in policing seem to be universal, top heavy and no support for the boys and girls on the ground.  Scott, like Si and I have said many times since finishing, wouldn't join the job now.  Although he did acknowledge that people going in now didn’t know anything different. He has no regrets about finishing after 28 years, and has been doing kitchen and bathroom refits since he retired. Although he’s now nearly really retired!! Sister in law Michelle is an ex teacher and hasn’t for a good word to say about the profession. She was telling me about having to confiscate vapes off 7 year olds and having to collect up the mobile phones at the start of the day and lock them in a box until the end of the day. That was for primary school kids.  Why does a kid need a phone in school at 6 ? There was a discussion about the social media ban for under 16 and it’s causing a huge divide. A lot of people are saying it’s a parents responsibility to police their kids' access to it where others are happy for the government to take it over.  Schools have had to set up support systems for the kids to help them cope with losing their Tik Tok accounts and other social media accounts. My brain is blown.

A pretty quiet, but really nice Sunday

Much love

Mrs Leonard
