I didn’t get to sleep very early last night as I was sorting stuff for the trip. It’s better there’s not so much rush to get everything down and the pressure is off a bit but still lots to sort and it’s all computer work. Ugh anyway the bed was comfy enough, but the motel is pretty noisy with vehicles coming in all hours of the night. It’s all safe enough just noisy. Probably more so because the windows were open as it’s so warm.
I went to the office for the access to the laundry but someone had beaten me to it which was a bit of an irritation. So I left the bag of washing there, paid my money to Veronica the owner and went back to the room. Two loads of washing and drying was $20 which was about steep I feel. But as it needed to be done I didn’t have a choice to be honest! I had a couple of calls to make so I did that while waiting for the washing to finish and finally Veronica knocked the door to say it was ready.
Pretty straightforward top loading washer and one of those dryers that hold all the water in a container that I can’t remember the name of. Doesn’t need a pipe. Anyway threw in the whites and off to go. Why does swimming pool water give white clothes a yellow colour tinge? My beach shirt is so discoloured and I’m pretty sure as soon as my beach visits are over I will be leaving it in textile Recycling bin! Along with a load of other things that will never be the same again. It Doesn’t help that I use a blend of oils on my skin when I’m sunbathing so I guess that discolours the fabric too. Either way it looks gross.
45 mins later, job done. Unfortunately I made the fundamental school girl error of putting the new hand printed Sarong in with the whites. Everything has a distinct pink glow to it ffs. I’m so cross. I was intending to swap it to the dark pile for that very reason but completely forgot and just threw it in with the whites. A few of the pale pink t-shirts don’t look too bad but my trousers and shirts and knickers are all pink. Now I love pink but on my terms and not by accident!
I chucked them in the dryer and put the darks in, still muttering under my breath at my stupidity, and went back to my room to wait for it to finish. The sun is really hot today and there is a fabulous breeze which is pretty dangerous. I sat at the little bistro set, read a book and drank water. As it’s a holiday day most places are shut down or so I thought. All the small local coffee shops are closed but it turns out the new world supermarket is open. How did I know this ? Because my Morg, after a day at the beach, rang and said are you home? I'm bringing dinner.
He rocked up 10 mins later with hot cooked chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, broccoli and cranberry salad and plums for dessert. He’s a good boy! We ate our dinner and put the world to rights which took some time, as you know the world is a mess! However, we've solved the problem . Don’t watch the news, read the papers or go on youtube. Sorted. Blue skies white sands and turquoise oceans only please Thankyou. There you go, you're welcome.
Morg is picking me Up in the morning to take me to the airport bless him it’s an early start but he’s off so said he’s going back to bed for an hour. The forecast this weekend is fabulous so I’m pleased for him, the New Zealand summer has been dire. Although not as bad as UK winter. The sun has still shown its face but it’s been wetter than usual.
After he went home I packed my bag, washed up,and checked in. Day done, another one closer to joining Si.
Much Love
Mrs Leonard
