Oooo I bloody love a comfy bed, and the one I’m in for the next week or so is very comfy indeed! I do feel a bit bad that poor Connor has to stay at his girlfriends because his mum has given me his bedroom for the duration of my stay. I’ll buy him beer, hopefully that will make up for being evicted from his own bedroom for some batshit crazy Welsh woman with leaky eyes.
As it is a work day, the household with the exception of me is off to earn a crust. I, on the other hand, have a day exploring my new location of Greenwood, getting to know the cats, doing some light weeding, checking out the pool temperature and doing some laundry. This time my knickers won’t be dropping three stories. Hurrah.
Before Julie went to work I got the number to the key safe and located the gardening tools. I don’t know how much I’ll get done . For a couple of reasons, it’s hot, it’s hard work, the roots are enormous, and did I mention it’s hot?
I don’t think she’ll mind if it’s not done today, I’m here a little while so it will all be done before I go. I had a melt down over the cat. It escaped only onto the sandy front patch but escape it did. I went to pick him back up and he just went limp and turned into a dead weight. as cats go he is a chunky monkey. At least he didn’t run away into the road. That would have been a great start to my stay. And I don’t think my travel insurance covers accidental cat damage by vehicles. With him safely inside and the door now firmly shut I got started on the weeding. I managed an hour and it doesn’t look like I’ve made much of a dent in it, as I say, I w plenty of time to finish it. It’s not like I’m chucking it in the fuckit bucket.
After a shower I test drove the pool. Bloody perfect and just what I needed to cool down after my work in the sun. I did find myself getting slightly concerned about the pool cleaner. It rolls across the floor of the pool constantly sucking all the bits up and keeping it clean. Which is great and exactly what it’s designed to do, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be following me around the pool. It's distinctly unnerving!! My imagination is too good to be entirely comfortable swimming in a pool with a robotic cleaner. I guess I’m ok if I don’t put my feet down. Also at least I can see where it is…
Swim done, I had another shower and hung my towel up to dry with the rest of my laundry which was almost dry in under 20mins, Julie’s washing line is in a splendid little sun trap.
I had a sort through my clothes and as I’m not a beach babe this week, I thought it couldn’t hurt to smarten myself up a bit. I mean Julie does have to live around here bless her and me walking around in shorts and strapless top is probably devaluing the neighbourhood as we speak .
I had intended to walk to the shops but when I was checking maps for directions I noticed the aforementioned shops were 7 minutes away in the car, that’s going to take a lot longer on my little legs with my sticks. Uber was the much better option by far and at $8 an absolute steal!
Picked up the food I wanted for dinner, prawn salad
And I may have treated myself to a new bikini and a Beach shirt for Fiji. It's positively tropical. So not only am I chasing dopamine today I’m making sure I keep myself occupied so I don’t have to think. Ffs I suppose it’s good that I know exactly what I’m doing and why….
I had to wait a while for a taxi home from the Mall. Reason being Uber had gone up to $38 from $8 possibly due to the time of day or just due to being greedy arse holes. The taxi was still $21 but I can't complain, it was still cheaper than Uber and I got home. Which was something of a surprise. Note to self next time I will go earlier in the day as there should be more Ubers around. I will also investigate bus services tomorrow.
Aiden pulled up on the drive the same time as me which was a bit of luck as it saved me struggling with the key safe and the door. I’d already had to use a spoon to access the key safe on my way out. I took it with me in case I needed it to get back in. My resourcefulness amazes me sometimes.
I cooked a stir fry for dinner for Julie and I. It was lacking in the spices department but at least it had millions of prawns. Julie and I cleared away and after an hour of quiz programmes went to bed. Bit blimin tired to be fair. I’m always tired but I think the sun and my gardening efforts have enhanced it!
Much Love
Mrs Leonard
