Hurrah for sunshine after rainy days. The rain continued all last night so it was a delight to open the curtains this morning to lovely sunshine.
Breakfast was my usual half gallon of the delicious coffee that's on offer and some people watching. Not a bad way to start the day. As it was such a lovely day I didn't linger as I usually do but instead went back to the room and packed my bag for my day. I don't really need a bag, it just makes things easier to carry, particularly the obligatory two large bottles of water.
The steps down to the ocean are closed off today because the wind has whipped up the waves and it is very rough. The usual crystal clear water is really cloudy, but they are more concerned about the rip. Not that it makes any difference to me as I still can't get down there anyway. The pool area was empty as it was pretty early and I could have parked myself there, however, I prefer the breeze blowing in off the ocean, it's just so much nicer.

Today I decided to concentrate on my tanning game, and it was bloody lush. I stayed out until midday, before returning to my room for a cup of tea and an hour in the aircon. All part of my efforts to prevent prickly heat, which seem to be paying off.
Refreshed, I went back out at 1330 via the restaurant so I could pick up some more water. As I was doing so, the lady I was speaking to about Rugby returned with her sister from day two of the funeral. I had no idea they were two day events. They really struggled with temp in the church today but said it was a beautiful experience. Their Auntie was someone quite important in the Islands and the prime minister was there yesterday and made a speech. It seems like the official funeral was yesterday with all the dignitaries and it was like a huge party, a real celebration of her life. There were live bands, beautiful singing and everyone was wearing the most colourful clothing it was topped off with a feast.
Today was a slightly smaller affair and without the dignitaries but again the most amazing singing in the church full of family and friends, all the women were wearing the beautiful flower head garlands and in vibrant clothing, there was again live music followed by the burial on the beach. The immediate family then return to the family home and the extended family will all return to the family home this evening for the final part of it. I had absolutely no idea it was a two day event but it sounds like a true celebration which is what they should be. I'm glad we had a two day celebration for Simon, i mean i would rather we hadn't had to celebrate him at all and that he was still here with us but well there we are.
The pool got pretty busy later on in the afternoon and a few people who were just day visitors were using the facilities. namely the swim up bar and they were kicking the ass out of happy hour. It was really noticeable how the whole atmosphere changed just by three people's insertion into the resort. Not really for the best to be honest, but the staff were absolutely fantastic and kept a close eye on them the whole time. I was glad to get out of the pool after my brief dip because they had encroached on my personal space somewhat and I found myself feeling really uncomfortable in their presence. Like I said the staff were keeping a close eye on them and when I had returned to my trusty sun lounger Abraham came by and checked I was ok and asked if there had been any issue. Once again I’m really impressed at how well I’m being watched over, also extremely grateful.
The 3 interlopers had spoiled my day a little bit so I decided to call it quits on the sunbathing. I was in all fairness getting a little crispy so it wasn’t a wholly bad idea to go find the aircon and lock myself in. Again very glad for the security and vigilant staff.
So another day done, I’m pissed off at Simon for not being here today. Really pissed off at him and I’ve called him absolutely everything. Then felt guilty and bust into tears FFS.
Tomorrow is another day and hopefully it will be marginally better than today. I am however another day closer to joining him.
Much Love
Mrs Leonard
