Woke up to sunshine so went for a swim which was really nice, the mornings are define cooler, still in double figures but only just. There’s been the first snow down south and it’s proper snow!
The usual gang were there and I realised I’ve forgotten every single one of their names, I get by, I just call them “my lovely” and that just about covers everyone. They’re all in their mid and late 80’s so possibly they have the same problem with names as me. Although embarrasingly they all remember mine.
I went for a coffee with them all this morning after we’d showered and changed. Just the little coffee shop on the corner in Kohimarama which was really nice. They are all so kind and some of them are hilarious, they’ve had me crying with laughter at their tales. I’m guessing they’ve all known each other a very long time. Some of the stories that come out can only have come about from people who know each other well . I also realised all the time we’ve spent together there have been no phones, just conversation laughter and swimming. I could take my phone as I have a rather splendid dive case for it, but it interferes with my swimming because it’s the weight of a house brick and trust me I don’t need any more hindrance with my swimming.
After a couple of hours we parted company and I went back to the unit, morg came down for dinner and I went the little shop before he arrived to get him some Anzac cookies. They’re his favourites. As I was walking back the sun set was the strangest yellow colour really striking.

I walked on down to the ocean to see what it was like over the water. Incredibly it was a bit dissatisfying . the warm up to it and the best bit was had walking back from the shop. It had built my hopes up for the ocean visuals. It was ok but the best of it had been through the tennis courts.

Sometimes you just blink and you miss it and I guess that’s what happened. By the time I got there the after burn had gone.

So a pretty mundane Eeyore kind of day really but a day nevertheless.
Much Love
Mrs Leonard
