12/04/24 Newmarket, Auckland

The rain didn’t stop last night,  nor that it bothered us all warm and cosy in the hotel!!  It continued until lunch time, and once it dried up we went for a walk down to Newmarket.  Heading for the Lumsden pub, beer o’clock and oh my god does Si deserve it for all the miles he’s done the last few weeks.

Morg had booked supper, nice and early at a place called Carmen Jones. We got an Uber there from the Lumsden. Our driver this time was the nicest guy we’ve had via Uber. He and his wife both have two jobs. He’s a chef in a hotel and also does the Uber while his wife is a lawyer and does barista work in afternoon and evenings. They are saving hard to fly back to India to visit family but it’s so expensive for them to get flights etc.

Some people work their socks off, they don't complain, just get on with it and keep smiling. He had the biggest tip to date and he deserved it. Even if he was telling a pack of lies he was great and I don’t mind as the fare was pennies anyway.

Carmen Jones is a few minutes walk from Morg and Liv’s and he was already there. Liv was on her way from work and joined us as soon as she could. The food was Mediterranean tapas style and again really really good. This time there wasn’t too much of it. Not that we were hungry, far from it, but there was just the right amount. Being Mediterranean style it was really good to have veg which I’ve really missed. The  mixture of flavours  in each  plate was divine and I’d forgotten how much I like that kind of food. There is no shortage of places to eat in Auckland that’s for sure!

We made a move around 2100 and got another Uber back to the hotel. No tip for him he was a grumpy got who couldn’t even be bothered to make conversation.rude.  Morg and Liv walked and were home before we’d got to the end of the street.

Lazy day again and a bit boring sorry peeps!

Much Love

My brain still isn’t back on track, not sure what day it is, where I am and not a clue what time of day it really is! However, we were outside waiting for George to pick us up this morning. He arrived

We woke early which is a tad bizarre, because I’m actually REALLY tired still! Anyway, as we were awake we thought we just as well pack our bags, that was done in 10 minutes so we had time for a leisu

So the bed and business class travel  was a resounding success and I slept solidly for 8 hour. I did wake feeling a little parched, congested and generally as delightful as the bottom of a budgie cage
